In honour of Remembrance Day in Canada’s sesquicentennial year, Roberta Kerr will present stories surrounding some of the individuals included in the Southern Alberta Jewish Veterans of World War I & II Database.  These stories are largely based on information gleaned from veterans’ attestation papers that have been accessed through Library and Archives Canada, and from the research process. These military records reveal the diversity of our veterans — rural and urban backgrounds, recent immigrants and Canadian-born, advanced degree holders and grade-school only — and a range of experiences that is at once unique to each individual, and fundamentally universal.
