Goldie Bell's Headstone Marks the First Burial in the Jewish Cemetery
September 3, 1904
Goldie was only 10 months old and it was her death that prompted the small Jewish community of four families to buy a small part of what was then the Union Cemetery.

Small Original Cemetery
This plot plan shows the first section of the cemetery. Goldie Bell's headstone is in the centre section near the top. The original section measured 26' wide by 93.1' long. Today the cemetery covers almost the entire block and the first stone becomes lost, surrounded by the hundreds of headstones.
