The Genizah
"Books containing God's Name in Hebrew are not destroyed when they grow old and ragged" (as Rabbi Leo Trepp notes in
his Complete Book of Jewish Observance). In Calgary such outworn books and documents are reverently interred in the strong,
secure genizah at the Jewish Cemetery. Among root meanings of the word genizah, Encyclopaedia Judaica includes "treasury"
and "preserve."
