The Hanson Brothers
The four sons of Jewish farmers Sam and Henya Hanson all enlisted in Canada's armed forces in World War II. They grew
up on a dairy farm near Strathmore.

Albert Hanson, M.C.
Lieutenant Alberta Hanson, Royal Canadian Engineers, l942. He was a most highly decorated Alberta Jewish serviceman,
being awarded the Military Cross for valour in France. Promoted to Captain, he was badly wounded in a mine-clearing explosion
and was returned to Canada.

Morris Hanson, l943. With his brothers all in the services, Morris Hanson ran his family's farm until 1943 when he joined
the RCAF. He was discharged at Guelph, Ontario, where he studied veterinary medicine.

Captain Sam Hanson, Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. He was one of many Canadian Jewish physicians serving on the
European war front. Captain Hanson was Mentioned in Despatches for attending wounded soldiers while under enemy fire in Belgium.
