First Calgary Stampede Parade - September, 1912
This photograph was taken by Marcell of San Francisco, official parade photographer. Jewish businesses on this block
(200 - 8th Avenue E.) included Joffe Brothers Clothiers, Jacob Diamond's Liquor Store, Charlie Malkin's Grocery, Bloomfield's
Candy and Lew Polsy Jewellery.
Among the spectators are Jacob Diamond (right foreground wearing bowler hat) with daughters Rose and Hattie (in white
hats), and Charles Malkin (right foreground behind lady with large white hat near lead-ox). The area is now the site of the
Olympic Plaza.
