The Hackman Men Rumset - 1912
Left to right: Sol, Abraham (Dad), Jack and
Sam. The hackman family arrived in Canada
in 1906 from Ackerman, Bessarabia, Russia.
After a year in Montreal they came to
Calgary where the land office was bursting
with people waiting to file claims on
homesteads. The Hackmans, after an on-the-spot
investigation, chose section 640 and
were on their way to becoming farmers.
