     Abraham (Avrum) and Hinda Belzberg
Calgary - c. 1945
They were from Radom, Poland. Avrum came to Canada in 1919 under "Meema" Singer's auspices. He worked on the Horodezky farm at Rumsey for a year in order to bring Hinda and baby Fanny to Clagary in 1920. They moved to the Riverside area of Calgary, where most of the recent immigrants settled, and Avrum worked at the City Hall Market. In time he opened a second-hand furniture store on 8th Avenue and eventually established significant real estate holdings. The other four Belzberg children, Lil (Lily), Hyman (Hy), Samuel (Koimy) and Bill, were all born in Calgary.
