Ben Maerov In Front Of The Wave Cage, 536 - 8th Avenue S.W. c. 1945
Started by Sophie and Sam Maerov as a grocery and confectionery in 1923, it had a horseshoe counter, a few booths and
served full meals. In the 40's they remodelled the new Wave. Ruben Maerov sold his confectionery on 1st Steet S.W. and joined
twin-brothers Ben and Morris. They operated this popular cafe in downtown Calgary until 1967.

Harry Isenstein Engineer for the CPR Calgary - 1955
Harry Isenstein began his career as a labourer for the CPR in 1910 at a wage of 12 cents an hour, but eventually became
a train engineer. Along the way, he joined a Jewish free-loan association set up to help immigrants.
