Top left:
Wolfbaer Switzer - c. 1920
Wolfbaer Switzer (1847-1924) of Radom,
Poland, was the patriarch of the Switzer
family and the father of Bella Singer. Severn
of his eleven children settled in Calgry. In
1923 he was sent a ticket to join them, but
fell ill and died of pnuemonia.

Top right:
Abraham Henry Goldberg (1875-1975)
Henry Goldberg was born in St. Paul,
Minnesota. In 1907 he travelled to
Edmonton where he and John Sternberg
formed the Northern Grain Company. He,
his wife Marcia and their daughters moved
to Calgary in 1921. There he became a
prominent force in the Jewish community.
He served as President of the Calgary Hebrew
School for 25 years, was a founding member
of the Beth Israel Synagogue and B'nai B'rith,
and became an active participant in
numerous Zionist causes.
