JHSSA is looking for a self-motivated student with an interest in history and high attention to detail to work in our archives. The job is part of a multi-year project to organize and catalogue our archival holdings with the help of a Documentary Heritage Communities Program Grant from Library and Archives Canada.
Job at a glance:
- 40 hours available this summer
- Hours can be spread out over the summer, or compressed into a couple of weeks
- $15/hour
- Requires attention to detail, and independent work with fragile material.
- Student will be working with our archivists, looking at documents pertaining to the history of Jews in Southern Alberta.
- Preference given to high school and university students
Tasks:
- Removing staples in archival material where indicated, replacing with plastic clips
- Checking for and discarding duplicate material in files
- Interfiling material pulled or copied from archives into our subject files
- Possibility for other tasks as skills, interests and project needs intersect.
