Wish List

JHSSA is a self-funded organization that relies on donations, bequests, grants and provincial casino funds to drive our operations, programming and projects. This page features one-time projects that could proceed if a sponsor were found, along with ongoing projects that are pursued as funding allows.

Funding for ongoing projects

Archival Processing – As new material is received by the archives, it must be assessed, sorted, housed, and described to address needs for preservation and access. This ongoing process often results in updates and improvements to our other research files.

Discovery Sponsorship – Digital ($1000) and/or print ($4000) acknowledged in the sponsored edition.

Photo Display – Creation of a new display on our board in the Calgary JCC lobby.

Oral Histories – Work is steady but slow with the help of our wonderful volunteers. Grants and sponsorships allow for concentrated projects along the lines of our Voices of Experience Project which give a huge boost to creation and access of oral histories.

Funding for one-time projects or purchases

Foam-core Collection Project – A comprehensive inventory and assessment of our current foam core display material, removing material that can no longer be displayed, and creating new display material to  address deficits in the collection.

Library Project – Assess and reorganize our library, and transfer our catalogue to a format which can be posted on our website.

Photo Collection Project – Cataloguing and organizing our extensive photo collection.

Scanner that accommodates large(ish) formats and books.

Subject Files Project – Edit and reorganize our subject files.

More details on all of these projects are available through our office.
